Plastic molding

Injection molding ERP software

ERP for injection molding plants that plans machines from mould cavities and cycle time, counts shots per shift, tracks every mould's shot count and maintenance, and weighs runners and rejects back to regrind.

Quick answer

What is injection molding ERP?

Injection molding ERP is business software built around how a molding shop runs. Formezy plans jobs from each mould's running cavities and cycle time, records the resin, masterbatch and regrind in every batch, captures shots and stoppages per machine, builds up each mould's shot count for maintenance, and holds parts that fail in-process checks, so output, scrap and cost per part stay current.

Why molding shops outgrow spreadsheets

A molding shop changes every day: moulds move between machines, colours change, cavities get blocked, and urgent orders jump the queue. When the plan lives in a spreadsheet and output is written on a shift register, nobody knows the real position until the end of the day.

The questions are always the same. How many good parts did each machine make this shift? Which mould is due for maintenance? How much regrind went into this batch? What did this order really cost? Formezy answers them from data captured at the machine, not from registers typed in later.

Planning from the mould, not from guesswork

Every mould in Formezy carries its cavities, standard cycle time, part weight, runner weight and the machines it fits. When you plan a job, output per shift is worked out from the cavities actually running and the cycle time, so delivery dates are based on capacity.

  • Jobs are matched to machines that suit the mould
  • Blocked cavities reduce the planned output automatically
  • Mould and colour changeovers are logged with the time they took
  • The plan shows what each machine will run next

Shots, stoppages and output on the shop floor

Shot counts and cycle times can come straight from the machine through the IoT & Automation module, or supervisors can enter them on mobile. Stoppages are recorded with a reason, such as mould change, material shortage, breakdown or no operator, so shift-wise and machine-wise efficiency is visible without anyone compiling a report.

Each shot also adds to the mould's shot count. Preventive maintenance falls due by shots or by date, and the mould's history of repairs and changes stays in one place.

Material, regrind and cost per part

Blend recipes record the virgin resin, masterbatch and regrind percentage for each part, and the actual weights used are booked against the material lots in every batch. Runners, sprues and rejects are weighed back into regrind stock, so scrap is measured rather than estimated.

Because material, machine time, labour and packing are booked against the job, cost per part and per kilogram comes from actual consumption. That makes quoting faster and shows which parts and customers really earn money.

Quality at the machine

First-off approval and periodic checks for weight, dimensions and visual defects such as flash, short shots and sink marks are recorded against the job. Rejects are booked by defect type for root-cause analysis, and suspect batches are put on hold before they reach packing or dispatch.

Questions

Injection molding ERP: common questions

Still have a question?

Talk to a plastic ERP specialist about your own plant and process route.

Can Formezy plan injection molding machines by cavity and cycle time?

Yes. Each mould carries its cavities and standard cycle time. Planning uses the cavities actually running and the cycle time to work out output per shift, and blocked cavities reduce the planned output.

Can it count shots directly from the molding machine?

Shots and cycle times can be captured from machines through the IoT & Automation module where the machine provides the signal, or entered by supervisors on mobile.

How does it track mould maintenance?

Every shot booked in production adds to the mould's shot count. Preventive maintenance can fall due by shot count or by date, and repairs and changes are kept in the mould's history.

How is regrind controlled?

Runners, sprues and rejects are weighed back to regrind stock, and blend recipes record the regrind percentage used in each batch, so its use is tracked and costed.

Can Formezy record mould and colour changeovers?

Yes. Every mould or colour change is logged against the machine with the time it took, so changeover losses show up in shift-wise and machine-wise efficiency.

Can Formezy handle assembly and printing after molding?

Yes. Printing, assembly and packing are added as further stages in the process route, so work in progress between them stays visible.
